Casey Polk (he/him/his) is a Program Manager for Student Opportunities and Achievement Resources (SOAR) at Virginia Tech. In collaboration with SOAR staff, Casey will support and implement programming and educational opportunities to enhance student retention and a sense of belonging for marginalized, underrepresented, and underserved populations on the Virginia Tech campus. Casey is a native of Virginia, coming from a small 900-person town named Chilhowie. Casey is a triple Hokie, earning a bachelor’s degree in Business Management, a bachelor’s degree in Apparel, Housing, and Resource Management, and a master’s degree in Education: Higher Education and Student Affairs. Casey has also completed MBA-level coursework. Before joining SOAR, Casey worked for Virginia Tech Student Affairs, serving in multiple roles, including as a Graduate Assistant for Residential Facilities and Operations. He worked to advance various critical projects in Facilities and Operations such as collaborating and working with the maintenance training program, navigating HokieServ [the university’s work order system], assisting in planning for housekeeping appreciation week, and standardizing residential lounges and residential signage, among other various projects to enhance residential environments for students. Before joining the Facilities and Operations team, Casey served as an Assistant Residential Learning Coordinator with Housing and Residence Life. He had the opportunity to support and provide care to residents in the Slusher and Pritchard communities. In his limited free time, Casey enjoys attending Virginia Tech football and basketball games, eating out in Downtown Blacksburg, sleeping, watching entirely too much Netflix/YouTube, and spoiling a set of nephews.
