Black College Institute (BCI)
The Black College Institute is an academic summer enrichment program by Virginia Tech. It hosts talented, high-achieving and academically curious rising high school juniors and seniors. For 2024, all three sessions will be held in-person over a 4-day period for rising juniors and 5-day period for rising seniors.
By day the students are engaged in hands-on, active learning, diving into each College offerings. The participants are able to engage with every academic College on campus to be exposed to a variety of majors, faculty, and resources that can only be found at Virginia Tech. This tangible experience allows for the students to literally see themselves in the profession, and start making connections that extend into their time here at Virginia Tech.
Social Justice Projects:
Each year students are able to engage in college-level research projects. This project offers participants the opportunity to enhance their professional skillset. It allows students to research topics salient to the Black Community and as a group. They then are challenged to prepare an innovative and engaging presentation to share before a panel of professional judges and their peers.
